Trouble Album Launch with Anti Retro Vinyls

Anti Retro Vinyls Trouble

Homegrown Anti Retro Vinyls are going to rock Durbs this weekend when they perform their much anticipated album launch of Trouble this Saturday, 22nd June at LIVE the Venue (16 Stamford Road). The four member band consists of brothers Greg Allan (Vocals) and Harry Allan (Guitar) and another set of brothers Christiaan van Renen (Drums) and Carl van Renen (Bass). They draw their influences from Indie, Old School Punk, Rock ‘n Roll, Disco, Dance and Pop, in what is best described as “a blend of creative, dirty-sounding guitars and smooth, punchy bass lines over loud disco/indie/rock beats”. Greg's unique voice ties together the mix to create catchy, party-hard, rock-out dance music with attitude. Their debut album, Trouble, is

John Cleese LIVE at the ICC

John Cleese

When John Cleese came to South Africa in 2011, nothing special happened. An old-looking, tall Englishman took to the stage wearing sensible clothes and sensible shoes. This is not what they call comic genius. When the man spoke, however, the pieces that make up a comic legend became evident and each and every person in the theatre felt lucky to have been in his presence. If you missed this experience, you have the chance to see John Cleese Live this year on the 25th and 26th of June at the I C C in Durban. John Cleese’s story in show business is remarkable. He was there at the tail end of radio comedy and then became part of Monty Python, arguably the most influential comedy team in television history. Rather than resting on

All Sorts of Crazy with the Sissy Hankshaw Pan Galactic Gargle Blasters Tour 2013

Sissy Hankshaw Pan Galactic Gargle Blasters Tour

This Saturday past, I stepped out of the optometrist in Umhlanga Rocks and I saw unicorns. I kid you not. Not one, but two. Pink Ones. As I was about to run straight to the pharmacy to rob them of their anti-psychotics, I saw a giant yellow Tamaguchi, two rather masculine Marilyns with pink hair and a group of Zombie schoolgirls. They were all holding signs saying #NextPub, except for the tooth fairy and dentist’s, whose said ‘Tooth the NextPub’. Knowing that I had stumbled upon something fascinating, I jumped into my car and followed them in the cars that had picked them up to Gateway. Luna Rossa might have been renamed Acid Moon after I saw the crazy antics of the Sissy Express rollercoaster in action! On enquiring from a
