Some might say that Janine Dixon, owner of Janine Dixon Fine Wines has a dream job. Not only does she get to taste some of the countries (and the worlds) best wines, she also creates fabulous menus and is the lady to speak to when wanting to pair the perfect wine with the perfect meal.
Janine tells us she had always wanted to get into farming and found that wine gave her that interest saying that basically, when you learn about wine you learn about farming and the seasons etc… Wine also went hand in hand with another love – food. “I was totally addicted to food and wine when I was younger. It’s the life style. And the Cape, the beauty. It’s an art for me it’s not the alcohol.” Janine goes on to tell us that the “bug bit big time” while working at Harrods in London in her early twenties. From there on it was a natural progression.
This busy wife and mum also lecture’s at Varsity College and is responsible for tutoring young minds entering the international hospitality industry.
Janine tells us her business is different because it’s a personalised and she is certainly not a bottle store. “I sell good quality, natural wines. I was given this licence because of my History and background and because I know what I’m talking about.”
