The Oyster Box is hosting two exciting wine tasting opportunities in October. ‘Wine Tasting Wednesdays’, hosted by Oyster Box Sommelier, Eric Botha, will be held each Wednesday in October (starting on 3 October), in the hotel’s elegant, sunken wine cellar. Each session includes five sammplings, accompanied by a cheese and biscuit platter. The cost is R75 per person.
On Thursday 11 October in the Pearl Room at The Oyster Box, Bouchard Finlayson winemaker Peter Finlayson, will lead participants in a vertical tasting of the boutique winery’s Chardonnays, benchmarked against some international examples. At R75 per person, The ‘Tutored Tasting’ is a wine tasting journey of approximately 10 wines and an opportunity not to be missed – as knowledge is shared in an intimate environment, whilst savouring a glass of this royal white variety. Canapes will be paired with the wines throughout the tasting. The evening begins at 17:45 for 18:00.
Finlayson is renowned for being the South African ‘Pinot Pioneer ‘and is collouquially known as the country’s ‘Mr Pinot noir’. His vast knowledge of wine and the wine industry, as well as his role in putting the Walker Bay wine region on the map, is well documented.
