Modern day adventurers Barry Armitage and Joe Dawson are at it again – for those not familiar with The Ride and the two crazy chaps behind this adventurous lifestyle dream… here is a bit of background. The Ride started with a naive statement over a Christmas party drink, “I’ll ride my horses (from Kwa Zulu Natal) to Cape Town”. Eighteen months later, brother-in-laws, Barry and Joe arrived in Grahamstown having retraced the hoof prints of Dick Kings legendary 950 km ride from Durban. A partnership with film maker Justin Bonello and his production company Cooked in Africa Films meant that what started as a madcap idea is now The Ride, a television series, that since the initial concept, the duo and their trusty                  

The Edge Rapp Jump

Ever fancied walking down a side of a building, thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies alike have the opportunity to get their pulse racing on Saturday 3 November where you can Rapp Jump off Musgrave Centre. The Edge, who offers the experience, last operated from the Musgrave Centre in 2010. The jump is a 50m descent from the top of the office block. The jump site was opened up in early 2000 creating a huge hype and buzz around the extreme sport. The concept of Rapp Jumping was developed by the British Special Forces in the 50’s and is a forward descent of a vertical surface using a single rope technique. So, we just heard that uShaka Marine World is having a CRAZY special this weekend. It's the uShaka Marine World’s deal of the century! On June 2nd (that’s tomorrow folks) at just R20 each, adults, children and seniors alike get a combo ticket to Wet 'n Wild and Sea World between 9am and 5pm. What a saving! Your ticket also includes re-entry throughout the day. As you can imagine things are going to get a bit crazy down there and tickets are on a first come first serve basis, so we suggest you get there as early as you can to avoid the maddening rush and possible disappointment of not getting in.
