The Durban Bierfest 2012

For the first time in Durban and modelled on the world-renowned ‘Oktoberfest’, Bierfest seeks to emulate the nostalgic “super event” providing an unparalled opportunity to enjoy traditional Bavarian fare and festivities. From 16-18 November, the 2 500-seater Bavarian Brauhaus festooned with German-inspired décor will make Suncoast its home. Revelers will be served in traditional style, to the sounds of an Oompah band, by costumed fräuleins, bearing fistfuls of beer steins to wash down authentic Bavarian food like Eisbein, German sausages, pickles, pretzels and Sauerkraut.   Tickets are R70 per person, and individuals can purchase unreserved seating or reserved seating from iTickets.

Sunflower Fund Hyper 5km Fun Run / Walk 2012

The 2012 Sunflower Fund Hyper 5km Fun Run / Walk takes place on the 16th September. Money raised by this annual event will be used by the Sunflower Fund to tissue type potential bone marrow stem cell donors for inclusion on the South African Bone Marrow Registry. Starting at 9.30am from Suncoast Casino, entry is R40, which includes a Sunflower Bandana. So do the right thing and support an amazing cause. For those of you who missed the registration on the 8th of September, you can make your way to Pick n Pay Hyper in Durban North on the 15th of September between 10am and 5pm for pre-registration. If you’re closer to town, pop into Suncoast Casino, outside the Zone between 1pm and 3pm to register. Expect a fun filled day

The inaugural Taste of Durban Food Festival comes to town from the 27th – 29th July 2012 at Suncoast Casino and Entertainment World. Over three days, this unique international restaurant festival will bring together the city’s most acclaimed restaurants, prestigious chefs and carefully selected premium exhibitors to attract Durban’s most dedicated and sophisticated foodies in an outdoor fine dining celebration.  Taking part in the inaugural show are Café 1999, Hartford House, 9th Avenue Bistro, Havana Grill, Little Havana, Jewel of India, Simply Asia, Versailles and Max’s Lifestyle Tavern. Festival times: Friday 27 July: 18h30- 22h30 Saturday 28 July: 13h00- 17h00; 18h30- 22h30 Sunday 29
